Environmental science in the news

Today I read an intriguing article in the New York Times written by the Nichole Kulish. It was titled "Huge Aquifires Are Discovered in North Kenya. The article was centered around a major discovery of an underground supply of water that could possibly improve the lives of northern Kenyan citizens. According to the United Educational, Significant and Cultural organization (Unesco) there are 17 million Kenyans that lack access to safe drinking water and 28 million are without sufficient sanitation out of 41 million Kenyans in total. Upon reading this article I was pleased to see that there had been a discovery that could prove to be beneficial for the millions of impoverished. The reason why I trusted the information given on this site is because the mission is to deliver breaking news, multimedia and reviews in today's society.

Biography

Hello my name is Halle Pozos,

I am the second oldest of five sisters and I'm from the Bay Area, Berkeley CA, to be exact. I am here in Riverside to further my education. I graduated from Berkeley High school and was admitted to UCR in 2011. I've been attending UCR for two years now but found that some of the breath requirements were a little difficult for me. I believe it's because of the fast paste as well as the extremely large classrooms. I decided to do two semesters here at RCC to finish my breathe requirements just so I can get  better understanding of the material in a smaller foundation. I enjoy this campus and believe that I will do well here during these two semesters.

The reason why I am taking Environmental Science is because it is one of the requirements that I have to fulfill. I am a Women Studies major but I intend on becoming a Physicians Assistant for a obstetrician gynecologist. I've worked as a front desk assistant for brain surgeon Dr. Kawanaa D. Carter in Folsom CA, which brought my attention towards the medical field. Although watching ill clients had an emotional effect on me I knew I wanted to be able to help in some kind of way. I looked into other private fields because brain surgery was a bit intense for me but doing more research I soon found that women's health was what gained my interest most. After taking this class I hope that it will take a hold of me in wanting to better the economy on a personal basis in my life and causes me to look forward in previous science courses after. Based on the class so far I am impressed with what Ms. Huff has in store for us and I can't wait to learn as much as I can about Environmental Science:)

Ecological Footprint

  1. - If everyone lived like me they would need 6.7 Planet Earths to supply enough resources.
  2. - According to my pie chart food would be the aspect of my life that accounts for the largest part of my ecological footprint.
  3. - In order to have a smaller ecological footprint I could recycle a lot more, eat less beef and possibly more chicken as well as take public transportation often rather than none. I am going to start eating more foods from places like the farmers market because I don't shop there at all and I know more natural/fresh fruits and vegetables would be great for me!
